Timothy, VNS
Timothy is a cool-season perennial bunch grass with shallow, fibrous roots and high palatability, making it a long-standing favorite for horse hay, cattle forage, and mixed livestock operations. It is particularly valued for its relatively high protein content and the clean, consistent quality it delivers at harvest.
Best adapted to northern and cool temperate climates, timothy performs well in moist soils and tolerates acidic conditions better than many cool-season grasses. It is well suited for hay production, silage, rotational grazing, pasture, conservation plantings, and erosion control across the northeastern and north central US. It also mixes well with clovers, alfalfa, and other legumes, making it a versatile component in both production and wildlife food plot blends.
