Ranchero Tall Fescue
Ranchero Tall Fescue is an endophyte-free, medium-maturing forage grass built for fast establishment and long-term durability. Its aggressive root structure and excellent seedling vigor make it equally at home in working pastures and on tough ground — slopes, waterways, and other erosion-prone areas that need quick soil stabilization.
Because it's endophyte-free, Ranchero is safe for all classes of livestock, including horses. It holds up well whether it's grazed, hayed, or left to grow tall and unmowed, and it makes a strong companion grass in mixes with orchardgrass, ryegrasses, bromegrass, and legumes.
Key features:
- Endophyte-free — safe for all livestock, including horses
- Excellent seedling vigor and rapid establishment
- Aggressive root structure for erosion control and soil stabilization
- Medium maturity — balances early yield with extended forage quality
- Versatile use: grazing, hay, or soil-holding cover on slopes and waterways
- Strong companion grass for orchardgrass, ryegrass, bromegrass, and legume mixes
Best uses: pasture renovation, thinning pasture rejuvenation, erosion control on slopes and waterways, and hay production.
Seeding rate: 20–25 lbs/acre when seeded alone; 4–8 lbs/acre when included in a mix.
