Brooks Winter Oats was released by the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service. It's a medium-early variety with medium height, excellent yield, and fair lodging resistance, along with good winter hardiness.
Brooks shows tolerance to barley yellow dwarf virus, good resistance to soil-borne mosaic, and good smut resistance, though it has poor resistance to crown rust. The variety also offers a new level of overall protein production — data indicates at least a 25% advantage in pounds of protein per acre over most other varieties.
