WyoWinter Pea
WyoWinter Pea
Developed by the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station, WyoWinter is an improved winter pea variety bred as an advancement over the widely used Austrian Winter Pea. With a yellow cotyledon and distinctive purple flowers, it brings both agronomic performance and visual appeal to the field.
WyoWinter has demonstrated excellent winter hardiness in Southeast Wyoming and Northwest Nebraska, and shows strong adaptation across the mid-states — making it a reliable choice for producers in regions where winter survival is a critical factor in variety selection.
Versatile in its applications, WyoWinter performs well for forage production, wildlife habitat, feed grain, and cover cropping — fitting naturally into a wide range of farming and land management operations. As a legume, it fixes atmospheric nitrogen, adding fertility value to any rotation it's included in.
