Description

Yellow Blossom Sweet Clover Raw is an upright annual or biennial cool-season legume with an extensive taproot that's especially valuable for soil building and subsoiling — its roots can break through compacted layers that many other cover crops can't reach. It's a remarkably durable legume, capable of growing in a wide range of environmental conditions, and once established, it's very drought tolerant thanks to that same deep root system.

The plant's bright yellow blooms make it a strong draw for beneficial insects, including honeybees, adding a pollinator benefit on top of its soil-building value. For best results, plant Yellow Blossom Sweet Clover at least six weeks before the average first frost so the taproot has time to develop — this reduces the risk of winter heaving, where shallow-rooted plants get pushed up out of the soil by freeze-thaw cycles.
