Clover, Subclover C & I
Subterranean Clover Coated & Inoculated offers a range of low-growing, self-reseeding legumes with high nitrogen contribution. Unlike many annual clovers, "subclover" gets its name from how it sets seed — its flowers bury themselves into the soil surface after pollination, which is part of why it reseeds so reliably year after year without replanting.
Subclovers are excellent weed suppressors thanks to their dense, mat-forming growth habit, and they show strong persistence in orchards and pastures where their low profile lets them tolerate mowing, foot traffic, and grazing without losing ground. Fall-planted subclovers are especially well suited to Mediterranean-style climates — mild, moist winters followed by dry summers — since the plant completes its growth cycle and reseeds before summer dormancy sets in.
