Homestead PeakBlend
Homestead Mix brings together three powerhouse cover crops — sorghum-sudangrass, Sunn hemp, and Taproot Radish — into one high-performing summer blend. This grass, legume, and broadleaf combination was designed to slot in after wheat or corn silage, putting otherwise idle ground to work during the warmest months of the year.
Together, these species tackle the full spectrum of cover crop goals. Sunn hemp drives nitrogen production while sorghum-sudangrass scavenges excess nutrients and builds serious biomass. Taproot Radish punches deep into compacted layers, improving water infiltration and soil structure from the ground up. The result is a blend that feeds the next crop, protects the soil surface, and addresses erosion — all in a single seeding.
Management is straightforward. In most regions, this entire mixture will be gone by spring without any intervention. Sunn hemp and sorghum-sudangrass are taken out by the first frost. Taproot Radish winterkills after a few nights in the mid-teens.
