Description

Cajun II Tall Fescue is an affordable, endophyte-free alternative to both novel-endophyte fescue and the potentially harmful high-endophyte KY-31. With high yields and extended longevity, it produces abundant forage for many years.

Wide Adaptation

Cajun II is a cross of European-type and Mediterranean-type fescues, developed from selections of Cajun, Martin, Mozark, and KY-31. This gives it a broad range of climate tolerance, from hot, humid regions to colder zones, with strong performance data from both the Northeast and Southeast.

Bred for high yields, Cajun II shows earlier spring growth, strong first-cutting yields, and extended fall production — maturing about 11 days earlier than KY-31. Match grazing and cutting dates to this earlier maturity for best forage quality. Its strong fall growth also makes it well-suited for stockpiling and fall grazing.

Endophyte-Free, Horse Safe

Cajun II is endophyte-free, making it safe for all livestock, including horses. Endophyte-free fescue also keeps grazing animals out in the pasture longer, rather than seeking shade or water, and new evidence points to improved cattle reproductive performance with endophyte-free grazing. Cajun II has been field-tested in Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New York (under the experimental name FTF 9077); complete data is available on request.
