Bell Beans are one of the most prolific spring N producers. They are best planted in the spring when the soil begins to dry out and the weather starts to turn. They will endure brutal spring conditions if the weather turns dry and can withstand frost and temperatures down to 20 degrees. Bell Beans are mutualistic with grass plants (will release N with grasses growing) and go great when mixed with spring oats or spring barley. They have a thick tap root great for breaking up the soil. When planted, Bell Beans need to have seed to soil contact.
